West Ham have opened their talks with Barcelona midfielder, Andre Gomes.
Manuel Pellegrini has identified the Portuguese midfielder as his prime target and the London side have obliged to his wishes by putting in a bid for the Portuguese midfielder.
After Gomes' season at Everton, the Merseyside club would like to retain his services at Goodison Park, but there was no clause in place to ensure Gomes would stay in Liverpool.
Marco Silva also said earlier that the club 'must do everything' to sign Gomes, but it would appear they will now fail to sign him.
Barcelona spent over £40m on Gomes just 3 years ago, but he now seems set to leave for less than half of that after failing to reach expectations in Spain.
Tottenham were also rumoured to be interested, but they have now pulled out of negotiations, with Giovani Lo Celso now their prime target.
