The Bundesliga will resume on Saturday, but Werder Bremen will not play until Monday night when they host Bayer Leverkusen. They won't do it with a full squad, as a last-minute positive has forced the club to separate one of their players.
The protocol has been put in place. The player, whose identity isn't known as there is no obligation (or need) for the club to publish it, has been separated and put in quarantine by Werder Bremen.
Not because of him, because when he was tested it was negative, but because someone close to him tested positive, so he has been immediately placed in quarantine to avoid running the risk with the rest of his teammates, as immunity is not guaranteed.
He will be separated from the rest of his team for two weeks, and although the club prefer to keep him in anonymity when they give the squad list, it will be more obvious to guess who it is.
He will miss, at the least the matches against Bayer Leverkusen on Monday, and against Freiburg next week. Werder Bremen are second bottom of the Bundesliga, with 18 points after 24 matchdays. They are 4 points from the playoffs and 8 from safety.
In the last few hours, 'Bild' have speculated that the player is Claudio Pizarro.
