The history of football is written through signing and also through many others which were on the table and never got completed. Arsenal have had plenty of near misses in the past.
As well as Cristiano Ronaldo and Ibrahimovic, Steven Morrow confirmed that Arsenal missed out on several players who are now footballing stars. Small details were the difference. The former Arsenal scout, who left the post in 2019, admitted that Sancho, Bellingham and Pulisic could have moved to the Emirates.
"The most important error was Jadon Sancho. We lost him once, when he moved from Watford and went to Man City and then again when he decided to leave City," Morrow began. "Jadon felt his future lied away from Manchester and we were very close to signing him, but his family thought it was better for him to go to Dortmund."
Something similar happened to Arsenal with Jude Bellingham, who also ended up at Borussia Dortmund: "When he reached the end of his contract at Birmingham and was thinking whether to stay there or go elsewhere, we were also very close to getting him. There are times that things can't happen and you have to accept it."
Lastly, Christian Pulisic also could have started hs career in Europe at Arsenal, but he also opted for Dortmund. "We ruled him out because physically he was underdeveloped," he said about the now Chelsea player.
