"We were never full of ourselves"

"I don't think it was a matter of relaxation. We cannot always be on the roof of the world, it is impossible to win ten Champions. They are cycles. Everyone thought that winning htree was impossible and we did. But winning all the time os impossible," said Varane. 

In addition, he believes that this year all rivals were eager to beat Madrid. "Everyone wanted to beat us, we are the rival to beat, everyone is waiting for us and that is a mental and physical effort too," he said.

In spite of everything, he says that they have respected all the teams of La Liga and that they never believed they were somehow more than anyone else. "But we've never really faced this season  by being full of oursleves, as if to say: 'we're the best'. Efforts to win take their toll. We were always humble and we fought," he continued.

Varane summed up his season. "I had a hard time getting started. I didn't have time to rest or to prepare for the season with the World Cup. I know I haven't done my best season," he admitted.

Finally, he made it clear that he id planning on staying in Real Madrid. "I want to continue in Madrid next year. We are going to experience very strong emotions. Next year is going to be very good," he concluded.
