The London club cameback from a two-goal deficit to draw 2-2 with Serie A leaders Juventus in the Champions League on Tuesday and are on a nine-match unbeaten run in the Premier League, defeating rivals Manchester United and Arsenal in the process, which suggests Tottenham are on good form.
However, the return leg with the Italian outfit won't be easy and Manchester City are still runaway leaders in the England's top division, so it appears that the FA Cup will be 'Spurs' best chance to end their decade-long trophy drought.
Despite this, Pochettino has come out with the revelation in his pre-match press conference that Tottenham should be aiming higher than the world's oldest club competition.
"I hear a lot about winning trophies and in the last 10 years there has been a lot of examples with coaches who win trophies like the FA Cup, Carabao Cup and yet six months after they were sacked".
The Argentine head coach explained: "You need to have your expectation to win the Champions League but you can't arrive within four or five years and then win the Champions League. You can maybe win the FA Cup, League Cup, if you say, 'OK, in five years we are going to win the FA Cup or League Cup', then you protect your best player for the FA Cup, forget the Premier League, and forget being in the top four".
"We need to think about winning big trophies like the Champions League. The pressure is to win the Champions League and also the Premier League".
Tottenham are set to rest several key players for their trip to Rochdale on Sunday, with Harry Kane a major doubt due to an ankle injury, although it could pave the way for new signing Lucas Moura to make his first start for the London club.
