In a very honest and frank interview with 'Sky Sports' news, Manchester United's David de Gea has urged his teammates to increase their overall level of performance for the club, in order to resurrect hopes of a title charge, or at the very least a top four spot.
The 'Red Devils' sit 10th in the Premier League as it stands, and were nine points behind pace-setters Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea at the top of the table heading into this weekend's round of fixtures.
Liverpool won at home to Cardiff on Saturday to go outright top of the pile, leaving United 12 points adrift before their tough home clash with Everton on Sunday afternoon.
And, in the build up to the clash, the United shot stopper David de Gea has announced a rallying cry to his underperforming teammates, telling 'Sky Sports': "I don't think it's been our finest season. We have to be realistic."
He continued: "The team has produced some good performances, while others haven't been so good. I think at times we've been relying on moments of brilliance from our attacking players. We haven't been 100 per cent solid defensively. We are improving, but I think we have to improve in all areas."
The clash is much anticipated by the squad, manager and fans alike; as Mourinho and his players are under pressure to deliver, following their stuttering league start and their Carabao Cup exit to at the hands of Derby County.

United have been criticised for needing to go one or two goals down in a game before really stepping up to perform, which has not gone unnoticed in the dressing room.
De Gea noted: "It's true that it seems we need to concede for the team to react, attack and create chances. I don't know the reason why. We have to control games, create chances and improve from the start. We have to improve in every area. We have to look up, get some victories, put together four or five wins on the bounce and get ourselves up the table."
After Everton, United face a three tricky away trips;to Bournemouth, Juventus in the Champions League, and defending Premier League champions Manchester City.
However De Gea was keen to insist that the team's focus is solely on the present, saying: "I don't think it's the time to look into the future. I think we have to take it game by game. We have an important match on Sunday against Everton. As I said, we're trying to get on a winning run, move up the table as soon as possible and battle to finish as high as we can."
