The Dutch international Frenkie de Jong criticised this Tuesday that friendly matches have been planned before the Nations League matches. The Netherlands face Spain on 11th November.
"The friendlies for the Dutch national team were not necessary. They are not games which get you points and they do not help towards qualification," the Barca player said in the pre-match press conference.
The friendly this Wednesday was planned for 29th March, but the coronavirus pandemic made it get postponed. "There was an agreement to hold it before the virus so we have to prepare for it in the same way," the player added.
"Everyone knows that the schedule is busy, but this year it's even more congested. It's an issue, but we have to try and be prepared in the best way possible and to remain in form," the footballer said.
De Jong described the Spanish national team as an attractive team" which is "always one of the best in Europe" and "they always try to play out from the back by putting lots of pressure."
On his position on the field, he said that he usually plays in the midfield, but that he won't complain if De Boer puts him elsewhere.
