Wayne Rooney turned down Saudi Arabia's millions to return to England

After his spell at DC United, Wayne Rooney decided it was time to return to England. All the millions in the world from Saudi Arabia were not enough to make him change his mind.

According to 'L'Équipe', the coach received several offers from Saudi Arabia. However, none of them appealed to the manager, whose priority was to coach in his native country.

Birmingham City put a three-and-a-half season contract on the table and Rooney didn't have to think twice about it. He agreed to take charge of this team, which is sixth in the English Championship.

Before tempting Rooney, Saudi Arabia opened the door by taking Steve Gerrard, who signed as manager of Al Ettifaq. The legendary former Manchester United player, at least for the time being, has no interest in following the steps of the other English football legend in the Middle East.
