It's safe to say that Jack Rodwell's career hasn't quite gone to plan so far. The Englishman was touted as the next big thing when he was a younster at Everton, and earned himself a move to newly-rich Manchester City, a bigger club even back then.
It all went downhill from there, as he fell out of favour, failing to impress any of the managers that came and went through the doors of the club.
He then moved to Sunderland, a large step down, and the club have now been relegated twice in a row, dropping down to League One last season. He didn't even excel there, and his £73,000-a-week contract with the club has now been terminated by mutual consent.
That means the 27-year-old is without a club, and the 'Daily Mail' report that Watford have thrown him a lifeline, inviting him to train with them. Rodwell has caught Javi Gracia's eye, and if he likes what he sees of the midfielder in training, he could offer him a contract and a chance to revive his career.
