Koopmeiners gave the Dutch the lead after 50 minutes and after that, Wales tried, but there were very few chances. Norrington-Davies thought he had salvaged a point for Wales in the 92nd minute with his header, but Weghorst responded at the other end two minutes later to give the away side victory.
