Up until now, Madrid have played 10 official matches in the league and Champions League this season. And the importance of the Brazilian isn't exactly being a year of consolidation.
The 1st season is always difficult. Starting and surprising has to do with consolidating in the future. And, at the moment, Vinicius can't say this. His role is more of a surplus than a starter.
The ex Flamengo player has played 313 minutes in a total of 7 matches. Out of those ones, he has only started 3 times (Celta, Levante and Osasuna) and only played the whole match once against Levante.
In two of the most important matches, against Sevilla and Atlético away, he didn't even play, and in the Champions League, he only played 11 minutes in Paris and 23 against Brugge.
The negative sequence hit an all-time low last weekend when he wasn't even in the squad. His quality is undoubted, but he is clearly his lack of scoring reduced his chances of playing in attacking positions- something which is very important at Real Madrid.
