Villarreal threw away a 0-2 lead after 10 years

The side from Villarreal had gone in front with goals from Ekambi and Pedraza, but in the second half, two goals from Aspas and another from Maxi Gomez, turned the scoreline on its head. 

The 'Yellow Submarine' had not lost an advantage of this kind since 15th March 2009 when Atletico Madrid the same threw goals from Aguero, Forlan and Antonio Lopez after Matias Fernandez and Cani had given Villarreal a shock lead at the Vicente Calderon. 

A circumstance which surprisingly had occurred in recent years at Estadio La Ceramica, but not away from home. In fact on three occasions. Villarreal were 2-0 up and lost 2-3 against Sevilla (2017-18), Real Madrid (2016/17) and versus Barcelona (2013-14).
