Sergio Asenjo is the only keeper Villarreal have at the moment. The La Liga side want another goalkeeper who is as good or even better than Asenjo as they are back in Europe again this season.
Emiliano Martinez has caught Villarreal's eye. The 28 year-old has been sensational in recent seasons and he could even become the number one at Arsenal.
According to 'The Telegraph', the Argentine has told Arsenal that for him to stay at the club he must the first choice keeper ahead of Bernd Leno. That is a difficult decision Mikel Arteta must make ahead of next season.
If Martinez is not guaranteed the number one spot, he would considering leaving the Emirates to get more regular game time elsewhere. At Villarreal, he would be up against an Asenjo who is in good form.
Emery knows him well from his time at Arsenal although he did not play him too often back then. Villarreal would like to sign the player, but it could be a problem if Arsenal's asking price is too high.
