Real Madrid travelled to the Basque Country to face Athletic Bilbao in a La Liga fixture on Sunday.
Madrid needed to win and Atletico not to beat Osasuna to be in pole position going into the final day. Zidane's men wanted a penalty in the first half when Alvaro Odriozola's cross struck Jon Morcillo's arm, but the referee and VAR said no penalty. Nacho ended up putting Real Madrid ahead with a 68th minute goal, which turned out to be the only goal. Bilbao ended the game with 10 after Raul Garcia saw red in the 89th minute.
At the Wanda, Atletico were losing 0-1 to Osasuna, but scored twice in the last 10 minutes to stay top of the league going into the final day.
