In October 2019. Sweden and Spain met in a Euro 2020 qualifier at the Friends Arena in Solna. Spain just needed one point to qualify for Euro 2020 with three matches left to play.
Sweden had taken the lead five minutes into the second half through Marcus Berg and so it looked like Spain would have to wait until their next game versus Malta to get the point they needed, but then Valencia's Rodrigo Moreno grabbed a 92nd minute leveller for Spain after turning home a cross to seal qualification for Robert Moreno's men. Sweden later booked their place at the Euros and both teams have in fact been drawn together in the same group, Group E.
