Santos faced Gremio in a Copa Libertadores quarter-final second leg last Wednesday night.
The first leg was 1-1 so Gremio needed a goal. They fell behind after just 11 seconds despite having the kick off after a poor pass back by Jean Pyerre was picked up by Kaio Jorge and he beat the keeper before firing in from a tight angle. Marinho made it two with just 16 minutes on the clock after more terrible Gremio defending. Kaio Jorge got his second in the second period after his header hit the bar, bounced in front of the line and then spun in.
Thaciano pulled one back for Gremio nine minutes from the end, but Laercio Solda added a fourth for Santos two minutes later. Santos won 5-2 on aggregate and will face Racing or Boca Juniors in the semi-finals.
