Get to know new Chelsea shot-stopper Eduard Mendy. The goalkeeper from Senegal arrives to provide cover for Kepa after the Spaniard made several high profile errors last season and at the start of the 2020/21 campaign.
Mendy cost the Blues 28 million euros and is 28 years old. He began his career at Cherbourg, where he first broke into the first team in 2011 at the ages of 20. After stopping over at Marseille's second team for a season in 2015, Mendy then moved to Reims in 2016 where he played 86 times, conceding 86 goals. It was last season though, after moving to Stade Rennais, that he became a household name after conceding just 32 goals in 34 games and catching the eye of European scouts with several man of the match performances.
Only time will tell if he suits Chelsea.
