Real Madrid have several contracts they need to sort and one of them is that of Varane. The French defender will be able to negotiate with any club from 1st January 2022 and there are even rumours of him leaving in the summer.
The central defender has been linked with the likes of Man City, Man Utd and Liverpool and 'AS' had already mentioned Alaba, Kounde and Pau Torres as potential replacement.
However, 'Marca' are now saying that Real Madrid and Varane have come closer to reaching an agreement over the Frenchman's future.
That means Real Madrid and Varane are talking about a new contract for Varane and it is reportedly very close to being completed.
Real Madrid want to seal the Frenchman's future before the current season is over in order to prevent a summer full of rumours and complications. The club believe he is an important defender who still has a lot more to give.
Madrid also want to reward his commitment and everything seems to indicate that it will be done soon. It is especially important given that Ramos has yet to commit his future to the club.
