Eibar v Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday saw referee Prieto Iglesias go to the monitor for two subjective decisions. This season, there have been 68 pitchside reviews and we have not finished matchday 29. Last term, there were 66 in the whole season, according to 'AS'.

Both fans and professional footballers have been calling for the referees to go to the VAR pitchside monitor on more occasions and it seems like the referees are doing that.

Prieto Iglesias, the man in charge of the Eibar versus Athletic Bilbao this Wednesday, was the man who broke the record after going twice during the La Liga clash.

As 'AS' rightly says, the referee went to the monitor twice at Ipurua. This season there have been a total of 68 incidents reviewed on the monitors, two more than the whole of last season.

In addition, the newspaper says that increase is largely due to more red card incidents being reviewed.
