VAR stole the show during Germany's 3-1 win over Cameroon as referee Wilmar Roldan sent off the wrong player, after VAR had alreay been consulted.
On this occasion it was human error on the part of the referee but nonetheless it made for painful viewing.
The incident took place shortly after the hour mark when Ernest Mabouka went into a challenge near the half way line. He was awarded a yellow card but after the referee reviewed it, it was changed to a red. However, Roldan awarded the red to Sabastien Siani instead. Leading to another VAR referral to solve the case of mistaken identity.
Many onlookers have also questioned whether the challenge wsa worthy of a red card in the first place.

In Sochi, another bad night for VAR. Officials manage to send off Cameroon's Siani. Then call him back to dismiss Mabouka. Wrong twice

Watching this Germany Cameroon game and it's evident this VAR is not going to work at all. Spoils the game and it's totally useless!

That Cameroon red card is a perfect example of the bad side of VAR. Just brutal. #ConfedCup2017
