Virgil Van Dijk showed that he is more than just a defender. The Liverpool central defender scored twice in just six minutes to put Liverpool ahead against Brighton.

Although this season he had not threatened the opposing goal too much, Virgil Van Dijk got on the scoresheet against Brighton. The Liverpool central defender netted twice in just six minutes to put the Reds in front after great link up play with Alexander-Arnold.

The first one arrived in the 18th minute, a free-kick was sent into the far side and Van Dijk headed between the central defender from the edge of the six yard box.

The second goal was once again from a set piece. In the 24th minute, Alexander-Arnold delivered a corner and the centre-back came in at breakneck speed at the near post to make it 2-0.

Jurgen Klopp's training ground routines worked and the Alexander-Arnold-Van Dijk combination, brought Liverpool joy in the first half v Brighton.
