The young midfielder is also proving to be key for his country, as Ronald Koeman brought him on to help defeat England in the Nations League semi-final this week. Donny van de Beek is a man in demand.
Van de Beek's quality on the ball and his goalscoring threat have caught the eye of plenty of suitors in the transfer market, and he has now been linked with Barcelona - something that the player himself claims to know nothing about.
"I've read a lot of things in the papers, but I haven't heard of this. I have a contract with Ajax, now I'm focused on the national team. It's nice to have my name linked with Barça," he said after the clash with England.
Van de Beek chose to remain humble, however: "I have to keep playing better and we'll see in the future, you never know what might happen," said the Ajax player, a friend of Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt.
