With another huge game on the horizon, Valverde will once again turn to the tried and tested. With Coutinho unavailable, the Barca boss will field a Clásico-inspired XI against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, with the only doubt being in the middle of midfield.
Valverde could go with Paulinho, who has proved many doubters wrong since returning to Europe from the CSL, however, the option of Andre Gomes also remains. The Portuguese started at the Wanda Metropolitano against Atletico and at the Mestalla in the Cup, though Paulinho has tended to be preferred in the League.
The doubt in part stems from the Brazilian's dip in form in recent weeks, something which has seen Gomes go from not even in most squads to thrust back into the team.
Whilst the former Valencia man contributes more defensively, Paulinho's ability to go from box to box is superior, whilst the Brazilian is also more of a goal threat.
If Valverde is looking to keep things tight at Stamford Bridge then Gomes may be the man for him, but if he is looking to hurt Chelsea on the counter then there could be a place for Paulinho.
Aleix Vidal looks set to be made to do with a place on the bench, though there is an outside chance he could start on the right to try to nullify the attacking threat of Marcos Alonso.
Ousmane Dembele also looks likely to be benched, with the Frenchman still searching for rythym following his return from injury.
The rest of the Barca team is expected to be as follows: Ter Stegen; Sergi Roberto, Pique, Umtiti, Jordi Alba; Busquets, Iniesta, Rakitic; Messi Suarez.
