The first meeting between the two teams was in the quarter-final first leg in the 2006-07 season and it ended 1-1.
David Silva put Valencia in front in the first half with a spectacular left footed strike and Drogba levelled the scores in the second period. The draw was not enough since in the return leg, the English side won 1-2 at the Mestalla and knocked out the Spanish side.
That match was played in April 2007 and before the end of the year, the two teams met again in the Champions League.
It was on the last day of the Champions League group stage and it was a goalless draw. Valencia were eliminated from the competition and came bottom of the group.
The third and final meeting at Chelsea was in the 2011-12 campaign and was also on the last day of the group phase.
On this occasion, Valencia were defeated 3-0 thanks to a brace from Drogba and one from Ramires. Valencia came third and ended up dropping into the Europa League.
In their three away games at Stamford Bridge, Valencia have scored once, Silva's in their first trip, and conceded four.
