Valencia have missed three of their last six penalties

The Valencia striker, Kevin Gameiro, missed this Saturday a penalty against Real Sociedad, which meant the third penalty Valencia have missed out of their last six in La Liga.

The French striker missed his spot kick in the 94th minute which would have made it 2-0 and then Oyarzabal levelled from the spot in the 101st minute.

Prior to Gameiro missing, Rodrigo Moreno and the captain Daniel Parejo also missed last season. On all three occasions, Valencia did not win the game.

While the Spanish-Brazilian striker missed against Valladolid in the 1-1 draw in matchday 19, Parejo failed to convert in the 2-0 loss to Rayo in matchday 31.

Parejo did score though against Atletico Madrid (3-2), Sevilla (0-1) and Barcelona (2-2). All of those were away from home.

Choosing Gameiro as a penalty taker, since Parejo was suspended, was because the Frenchman had scored 11 of his last 12 spot kicks in La Liga including his last four.

The only time the Frenchman had missed was in March 2016 when as a Sevilla player, he missed the penalty kick which would have drawn his team level at the Bernabeu. His team finally lost 4-0.
