The programme 'Espejo Público de Antena 3' reported that the game between Real Valladolid and Valencia was the catalyst for the match-fixing investigation that has been launched this Tuesday.
The aforementioned media suggested that it was a handful of players who supposedly were responsible for arranging the match-fixing, meaning that the clubs were not involved in any capacity.
A few hours later, Valencia released a statement disassociating themselves completely with the allegations and warning that they will take legal action against anyone that suggests the club were involved.
Valencia club statement:
"In response to news reports published this Tuesday regarding the supposed involvement by players and directors of other clubs in illegal gambling and alleged matchfixing, Valencia CF -as an entity completely outside of this matter, wish to publically warn that we will take the relevant legal action against the spreading of any unfounded rumour or story attempting to link our club to this case".
