Uruguay:
They are the only team in the tournament to have won all their games so far, and will take great confidence from the fact that they out in such a convincing display to dispatch European champions Portugal in the last-16. Their defensive solidity has been particularly impressive so far, and will not be broken down easily by their opponents.
The big injury concern is striker Edinson Cavani, who limped off the pitch against Portugal having scored the two goals that secured his team's progression to this stage. Should he not be fit for the encounter, Cristhian Stuani will come in to the side as he did for the last moments of the Portugal game.
France:
While they had an unconvincing start to the tournament, they remained unbeaten in the group stage and have showed signs of improvement. Their last-16 game against Argentina was a thrilling one, which they deservedly won after Kylian Mbappe stepped up to score a quick-fire double to take the game away from Lionel Messi's team. French supporters will definitely expect 'Les Blues' to win this one, given the array of talented individuals that the squad possesses.
France have no injury concerns, but Blaise Matuidi is suspended for the game so it is likely Corentin Tolisso will replace the Juventus midfielder.
Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez on France's attacking abilities:
"We know that France will be very tough indeed. They have two exceptional strikers, Griezmann and Mbappe – they’re very fast indeed.
“It will be very difficult for us. But we will try our best and look to impose our way of playing on them, using our strengths."
French captain Hugo Lloris on the style of of the game:
"[it will be] a big struggle and we will have to be ready in all facets of the game.
"We know its going to come down to next to nothing. I think it will be a very different game than against Argentina."
Prediction: 1-2
