The USA are Women's World Cup winners for the fourth time thanks to Rapinoe's and Lavelle's second-half goals! The Netherlands fought hard and proved to be a tough nut to crack, but the contentious VAR awarded penalty set the US on their way and they were clearly the better side after taking the lead.

As the US press on for an opener, the Dutch hit them on the break with the pace of Beerensteyn, who is brought down in a dangerous position by Dahlkemper. The American defender receives a yellow card and the Netherlands have a free-kick within shooting range.

Another great save from van Veenendaal! Alex Morgan unleashes a rasping left-footed effort from the edge of the box, but the Dutch goalkeeper gets down low to tip it behind for a corner.

USA come close twice!! Two crosses from the left cause trouble for the Netherlands! The first is Mewis' ball in, which is headed straight at an onrushing van Veenendaal. Moments later, Rapinoe's cross finds Morgan, who pokes an effort goalwards that the Dutch keeper does well to sandwich onto the post before scooping up the rebound.

America take a couple of risks playing out of defence, but it ends in an attack that sees Morgan hit the floor after a nudge in the back from Janssen in the area. The Americans call for a penalty, but the referee is having none of it.

Rapinoe tries a sweeping diagonal ball across to Heath on the other side of the pitch, but the US winger can't quite reach it and it goes behind for a goal kick. Just before that, van de Donk left a rather heavy late tackle on Ertz, and may have been lucky to escape a card.

Another decent attack from the USA as Heath gets away down the right and crosses. The Dutch fail to clear their lines, and Rapinoe crosses back in from the left but can't find a teammate.

Alex Morgan went down in a heap after colliding with van Luteren at the start of that Dutch attack, by the way. Seems like she'll be ok to carry on though.

Martens gets away down the left and cuts inside, leaving the Dutch with a three on three in a dangerous attack. However, she completely mishits her pass to Beerensteyn and gifts the USA a throw in. Wasteful from Mertens.

The Netherlands arrived in the final courtesy of a rather tedious 1-0 extra-time victory over Sweden on Wednesday evening. They are the current European champions after their surprise Euro 2017 win, and will be hoping to cause another upset against the overwhelming favourites and holders here today.

The USA are competing in their third straight final thanks to a dramatic 2-1 win against England on Tuesday night. They will be looking to match the Germany sides of 2003 and 2007 by becoming the second nation to win back-to-back World Cups, but their task won't be straightforward against a stubborn Netherlands side.

Netherlands make just one change from their semi-final victory, with Anouk Dekker starting in place of Merel van Dongen in defence. This change also sees Dominique Bloodworth slide out to left-back, whilst the influential Like Martens has passed a late fitness test and is set to start on the Dutch left.

So, the USA make two changes from the side that beat England in the semi-finals, as the never-shy Megan Rapinoe returns to the starting XI in place of Christen Press. Their other change sees Sam Mewis take the place of Lindsey Horan in midfield.
