English publication 'The Sunday Mirror' reports that 'Red Devils' boss Jose Mourinho is prepared to cut the Frenchman loose following a disappointing campaign that has seen him slip below the likes of Nemanja Matic, Ander Herrera and Scott McTominay in the Old Trafford pecking order.
Mourinho is reportedly growing tired of Pogba's social media activity semeingly taking preference over his performances on the pitch and is prepared to cut his losses on the man signed for £89m from Juventus just two years ago.
The same source claims that Mourinho is looking to use the money the club would receive for Pogba on luring a plethora of world class stars to Old Trafford as United look to close the gap between them and rivals Manchester City.
Real Madrid duo Toni Kroos and Raphael Varane are thought to top his wanted list, with Varane having been on the Portuguese' radar ever since he departed the Bernabeu in 2013.
World Cup winner Kroos is seen as the ideal man to provide everything that Pogba should in the middle of the park, with pin-point passing allied with drive, intelligence and defensive diligence.
Aware that Real Madrid would be more than reluctant to lose two of their vital cogs in their midfield and defence, Mourinho has also come up with a back-up plan, with PSG pair Marquinhos and Marco Verratti also under close consideration.
Meanwhile, United's left-back woes may also be set to come to an end, with Juventus' £45m-rated Brazilian Alex Sandro seen as the ideal replacement for the out-of-favour Luka Shaw.
Whilst Real Madrid are known to be fans of Pogba, having considered signing him before his return to Old Trafford, it remains to be seen if they would be interested in a move this summer, with David de Gea still the United player they hold most interest in.
A return to his homeland with PSG, though, would seem the perfect fit and Mourinho is hoping to negotiate a similar swap deal to the one that saw Alexis Sanchez join the club in January featuring one or both of Verratti and Marquinhos.
