Prime Minister Theresa May and her government will back the bid, with the Conservative Prime Minister stating on Friday the government are behind the plans.
She said: "Following the excitement of this summer's World Cup, the English FA are working together with the FAs of Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Ireland to explore whether there could be a joint bid to host the 2030 World Cup."
Any formal bid would require the Football Association to take the lead.
UK Sport will announce their hosting targets on Wednesday - which also includes hosting the European Athletics Championships in 2020 and the World Championships a year later.
