United in trouble for Trippier: buyout clause now set at 60 million

Manchester United are interested in Trippier and Atletico Madrid are referring to his buyout clause. That is the information that has been repeated in the last few weeks, but what is his buyout clause? First, it was set at 40 million euros. Now, 'Daily Mail' claims it's €60m.

This is a problem for the Red Devils because it means they will have to make a bigger investment to bring him in. It is true, however, that if there have been advanced Spain-England negotiations, the Wanda Metropolitano's sporting management will have transmitted to Old Trafford the real clause of their player, not the ones that have been leaked, so, for United, those 60 million should not be a surprise.

In the current transfer window, the club has already snapped up two high-profile players who have been blows on the table in the transfer window: Jadon Sancho and Raphaël Varane. That is why it is not advisable to pay too much money for the Cholo's full-back in order not to overload the club's coffers.

Atletico Madrid have the upper hand because Trippier is under contract until 2023 and, as champions of La Liga with a correct financial situation, there is no urgency to sell him. It will only happen - unless United come up with more comfortable terms - if a proposal comes in that covers his clause.
