Jose Mourinho is believed to be keeping an eye on Marten De Roon's situation at Middlesbrough.
Mourinho singled the 26-year-old out for praise following United's 3-1 victory at the Riverside in March, saying that his work-rate is "phenomenal" and it appears that he may be ready to make a bid for the Dutch international.
'TuttoMercatoWeb' reports that Middlesbrough are prepared to sell the midfielder this summer, just 12 months after he arrived in a £12m deal from Atalanta. The same source reports that Italian sides Atalanta, Lazio and Roma are al interested in the player but that Jose Mourinho could offer the player a chance at an immediate return to the Premier League.
United have already been linked with moves for Chelsea's Nemanja Matic and Monaco's Fabinho but De Roon would represent a cheaper option than either of those two.
De Roon made 35 appearances last season in all competition for the Boro, scoring 5 goals in the process.
