It's been a constant subject among newspapers and the Barcelona board meetings but it seems Umtiti wants to stay at the Camp Nou.
The France international has a contract with 'Los Cules' until 2021 but Barca have been wanting to push through an extension given Umtiti's measley £53million release clause.
Their urgency has been heightened following strong speculation linking the centre-back with a move to Jose Mourinho's Manchester United.
However, Umtiti has provided an update on the situation when asked about it by the aforementioned Spanish newspaper.
He said: "For my part, I want to renew. It's important to resolve this issue before the World Cup although if this is not possible, it wouldn't bother me.
"At the moment, there is no more news or further developments".
Umtiti also gave his opinion on the rumours surrounding Antoine Griezmann's future, arguing that the striker could help Barcelona a lot.
