Liverpool won the FA Cup against Chelsea in a final that was decided by a penalty shoot-out. It was Tsimikas who scored the final goal and, curiously, he was unknowingly correct that the seventh spot-kick was going to be the final one. He was the one who asked his coach to take the spot-kick in the previous discussion. He told the 'BBC'.
"It's very, very special for me. The coach asked me what number I wanted. I said, 'Number seven'. He asks me: 'Why such a high one?' I said: 'I want number seven. And number 7 gave me the chance to win the match. I choose the right side and I score. And I'm very happy that I got it," he said.
"Our goal from the beginning of the season was to go for it; fortunately, now at the end, we are satisfied. We gave absolutely everything. Congratulations to the guys. We have to celebrate well, but we still have a lot to do. We have games in the Premier League and we have the big final - the Champions League final," he added.
"We have to celebrate now but, even so, we have the next games in mind. We have to be 100 per cent focused if we want to achieve our goals," he added. Hopefully, he can also be part of a possible Liverpool victory in Paris, but, for that, there is still a wait - Real Madrid await.
