Tottenham can tip the balance for the Premier League title

The Premier League is proving to be the most exciting of the big five leagues this season and Tottenham could be a key factor in the outcome of the competition. Ange Postecoglou's side will take on the top three in three successive rounds: Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool. 

With 27 games played, the English League standings are as follows: Liverpool lead by one point over Manchester City and the Sky Blues are also one point ahead of third-placed Arsenal. The three teams are therefore within two points of each other.

Tottenham will start this challenge against the Cityzens at home. This will take place on 20th April on matchday 34, in other words, in the final stretch of the Premier League. It is a date marked in red for Guardiola's side, as they are visiting a complicated ground and the London side have created many problems for them in recent matches. It is true that the precedent is in favour of the Mancunian side (0-1 in the FA Cup), but until that game City had gone five games without scoring at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. 

After the clash against the Sky Blues, Tottenham will face Arsenal again at home. On 27th April, Spurs and Gunners face each other in the 35th round of the Premier League. In the first leg, this duel ended in a 2-2 draw with brilliant performances from both Son (he scored a brace) and Maddison (he shared both assists for the South Korean). However, of the last meetings between these two teams, the Lilywhites have only won on one occasion.

Finally, to end this string of high-level matches, Postecoglou's side will take on current English league leaders Liverpool. This match will be played on 4th May at Anfield, so, in theory, it should be the most difficult of the three. The Reds are the only title contenders who have already passed through Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and left empty-handed. Spurs are one of only two clubs to have beaten Klopp's side in the Premier League, the other being Arsenal. But the Anfield crowd has yet to see a defeat of their team this season in all competitions. 

Tottenham, by quirk of fate or pure chance, have been handed a major role in the Premier League title race with little or no chance of adding to their trophy cabinet. He will be the judge of this competition in the most decisive part of it. Although it must be borne in mind that they still have to fight with Aston Villa for a Champions League place and facing the three most in-form teams in English football in a row is an extremely difficult challenge in the fight for this objective.
