During this time sportsbook operators have their hands full, and UK based online casinos that offer sports betting options, in addition to slots and casino table games, are seeing so much traffic on their websites. However, until everything comes to an end all of us can only speculate who will win. So, let’s see who are currently the top contenders to take the trophy home, in the upcoming EPL season.
Manchester City
The way things stand now it seems that the most likely outcome is that Manchester will manage to defend its title. They finished 12 points ahead of their rival Manchester United at the start of the season, and they are highly motivated to keep their crown. The recent match with Liverpool ended up in a tie, which also indicates that Liverpool could end up dethroning the reigning champion.
Liverpool
Liverpool had amazing pre-pandemic success, and there were high chances that they would end up at the top in 2019. Fate had different plans though, and fans all over the world were devastated that we never got to see how that season would conclude. In 2020-2021 they ended up finishing third and that was mainly due to the absence of their defense player Virgil van Dijk. However, their recent match with Manchester City proves that things are far from over, and even though they are the underdog, there is still a good chance they will take the trophy home.
Chelsea
Another underdog that has almost identical odds as Liverpool is Chelsea. However, in their recent match against Manchester City, they lost 0-1, which puts them in a tight spot. That being said, it was still a tight match and they did manage to come on top in some of the previous matches against them. The team has lots of talented players, so it would be foolish to count them out.
Manchester United
Although it is still too soon to count them out, things aren’t looking so good for Man Uni. They did rank 3rd in the 2020 competition, and they do have Ronaldo on their team. We should also remember that they haven't come to the top ever since Sir Alex Ferguson, so even though they have amazing talent and they are still holding up the previously mentioned teams just seem more likely to win in 2022. Moreover, their recent match history doesn’t look too reassuring, so it remains to be seen if they can pull out a miracle by the end of the competition.
Tottenham
Although their odds don’t stack up well against all of the other entries, if Tottenham were to win the Premier League it would be the first time ever. They did have a fall out with Jose Mourinho and he was replaced by Nuno Espirito Santo. Although Jose is regarded as a top-tier manager Santo managed to impress everyone with his leadership. Still, it remains to be seen whether he has what it takes to lead Tottenham to victory.
Conclusion
These are some of the top contenders for the winner of the Premier League in 2022. That being said, we might see a completely new outcome, and someone who is not even on the list might snatch the trophy. That’s the true beauty of this sport, there is always room for surprises, and those matches when tables are turned go down in history.
