Beyond philosophies or entertainment, the history of football is written by the winners and there are only a few teams that stand out. We dive into the trophy cabinet of Europe's biggest clubs and also of other teams that, despite not being so well known worldwide, have a gigantic trophy cabinet.
These are the 10 clubs with most titles in the world until June 2022.
10. Porto (Portugal)
Always in contention with Benfica and this season's winner in Portuguese football, Porto have won 81 titles in their career. Unlike the Lisbon giants, they have won 74 in Portugal and 7 in the international context, with 2 European Cups as their greatest achievement.
9. Al Faisaly (Jordan)
The Jordanian team, unrivalled in the country and, at the same time, little known outside Asia, is the ninth most successful team in history. They have won 82 official competitions, 80 in Jordan and the AFC Cup twice on the international stage.
8. Benfica (Portugal)
87 titles have been won by the most successful Portuguese club in history. They have won 84 in the Portuguese context and three at international level.

Barça have seen their eternal rivals catch up with them this season with two titles. Los Azulgranas have won 97 titles, 75 in Spanish football and 22 at international level.
6. Real Madrid (Spain)
Real Madrid caught Barcelona with the Spanish Super Cup and La Liga titles in 2022. Los Blancos have 97 titles, 68 in Spanish football and 29 in the international scene.
5. Celtic (Scotland)
The Catholics have won 113 titles throughout their history, 112 in Scottish football and only one, the European Cup in the 1966-67 season, in the international section.
4. Rangers (Scotland)
Despite their relegation through bankruptcy, the Scottish club remains the club with the most titles in Europe with 117. 116 have been won in the domestic context and one, the 1972 Cup Winners' Cup, in the international context.
3. Al-Ahly (Egypt)
The Egyptian football giants have won 139 titles in their history. Of these, 115 have been domestic, 23 continental and 1 World Cup.
2. Penarol (Uruguay)
Always in a tight battle with Nacional to see which team has more titles not only in Uruguay but also in South America as a whole, 'Los Aurinegros' have won 147 official trophies, 133 domestic and 14 in the international context.
1. Nacional (Uruguay)
The Uruguayan team is the most successful in South America and also the team with the most titles on the planet with 162, the result of its 140 national tournaments and 22 won in international competition.
Undoubtedly one of the goals of teams at the start of the season is to lift a title at the end of the season. Other big clubs are even fighting to enter the list of most trophies won by a football club. Real Madrid and City will be fighting in the semi-finals to lift the Champions League title while Barcelona for example are just one win away from being crowned La Liga champions.
