His name, more well known now than when he was playing football, will always be a byword for Italian football. Francesco Totti is football, he is 'Calcio' and he is living history not only in his country, but all over Europe.
Now that he has had time to reflect in the months after his retirement, the 'King of Rome' has talked about his career. He started, how could he not, with the end: "I never spoke face to face with Spalletti and perhaps I never will. I would have liked to have ended my career in another way".
The former Roma player said he was happy with the way he had transitioned from player to a director at Roma, but admitted he does miss playing. "I grew up on the pitch and I will die on the pitch," he stated.
He also mentioned his transfer to Real Madrid that never materialised, when he was ready to join 'los Blancos' in 2004. "I had a very important offer from Real Madrid in 2004, but I decided to forego winning trophies to stay with the same team as always," he remembered. "In the end, I recieved love and passion, which was more important to me than trophies," he insisted.
Finally, when asked what he would be worth in today's market, the Italian was concise: "I would be worth 200million."
