"This win brings us closer to winning La Liga"

Barcelona centre-back Inigo Martinez stressed, after his team's 1-0 win over Mallorca, that it was important to keep a clean sheet to redeem themselves from the defensive problems they had in the match against Celta (4-3). "It was also important to keep a clean sheet because, the other day, we were not good in defence. We were up to the task", said the Basque defender in statements to ‘Movistar LaLiga’.
The player from Ondarroa highlighted the “many chances” generated by the strikers, although he regretted that they didn't go in. “Those of us at the back were a little nervous because we saw that the ball didn't go in and that always leads you to not relax until the end”, recognised Martinez, who highlighted the importance of taking the three points to put pressure on Real Madrid, their closest challengers in the fight for the league title.
He also welcomed the fact that two regular substitutes, striker Ansu Fati and full-back Hector Fort, started the game. "In the end, you always get your chances and I think they were up to the task. That's why they got a standing ovation. They are two very important players for the squad," he reflected.
Eric Garcia and Pau Victor also spoke to the press. These were their most important statements:
Eric Garcia: "I think that the result is short because of the chances we had.... It was important to keep a clean sheet. Dani Olmo is a player who helps us a lot and we miss him when he is not there. This win brings us closer to winning La Liga".
Pau Victor: "We have recovered our sensations and we are very happy with the three points. If we win all the matches, we will be champions. There is little league left and we have little margin for error".
