Thiago Alcantara tests positive for coronavirus
The 29 year-old was left out of the win over Arsenal due to what was described as a "minor fitness issue." Now, it has emerged that he has the virus and he will have to self-isolate.
The Liverpool club doctor, Dr Jim Moxon, explained that the player decided to make the news public as it a decision for each individual affected. "Thiago is OK. He will be self-isolating now as per the guidelines and hopefully he'll be back with us soon."
The Spaniard is guaranteed to miss the Catabao Cup tie with Arsenal on Thursday and the trip to Aston Villa on Sunday. His participation for Spain during the international break is also in doubt.
