Thiago Alcantara back in Barcelona colours

Barcelona confirmed on Wednesday that Thiago Alcantara will join the club's coaching staff on a temporary basis. The Catalan club said the former player, who announced he was hanging up his boots a few weeks ago, will train with Hansi Flick this summer.

"He will spend the next few weeks with Hansi Flick's staff to train as a coach. The former player is expected to be with the first team throughout the summer and will therefore be one of the expedition members on the tour of the United States," Barcelona explained on their website.

The club highlighted the good relationship that Flick and Thiago established during their time at Bayern, which was undoubtedly decisive in Thiago being able to join the team's coaching staff so quickly: "The La Masia-trained midfielder and the new coach created a good personal relationship during the only season in which they both coincided at Bayern Munich".

It remains to be seen whether Thiago Alcantara will remain with the team after the summer or leave to join Barcelona once this new formative stage in his career is complete.

In the meantime, he will be a good link between Flick and the squad and will certainly help the new coach adapt to his exciting new day-to-day life.
