Winning the Europa League may be a minor incentive for Europe's top sides, but once in the competition, it is a tasty treat for anyone in the quarter-finals.
The round of 16 has offered some great matches, some very close ties and others that were decided in the first leg, but all of them were fought to the last minute.
These are the qualifiers for the quarter-finals of the Europa League:
March 17, 2022
RB Leipzig
The German side qualified for the quarter-finals without playing. They were 'lucky' to be drawn against Spartak Moscow, who were excluded by UEFA because of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Barcelona
Xavi Hernandez's side drew 0-0 in the first leg and came from behind to beat Galatasaray in Istanbul, thanks to goals from Pedri and Aubameyang, to win the match and the tie 2-1.
Rangers
Gio van Bronckhorst's side won the first leg (4-0) and, despite losing 2-1 in the second leg against Red Star, are through to the quarter-finals.
Sporting Braga
The Portuguese side won the first leg 2-0 and, with a draw in Monaco, sealed their place in the penultimate round thanks to Abel Ruiz.
Atalanta
One of the best ties left one of the most evenly matched. Boga's stoppage-time goal left Bayer Leverkusen, who also lost the first leg, cold.
Olympique Lyon
Olympique Lyon progressed to the quarter-finals after a 1-0 win in the first leg and a 1-1 draw in the second leg against Porto.
Eintracht Frankfurt
A goal in the 121st minute allowed Eintracht Frankfurt to avoid penalties and eliminate Betis to advance to the quarter-finals.
West Ham
West Ham were able to turn around a 1-0 first-leg deficit to beat six-time champions Sevilla in extra time to advance to the quarter-finals.
