Real Madrid's Karim Benzema and Thibaut Courtois, as well as Manchester City's Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, are the three final nominees for the 2021-22 UEFA Player of the Year award.
France striker Benzema was named UEFA Champions League Player of the Season 2021-22, a trophy awarded to him ahead of the European Super Cup in Helsinki, thanks in particular to 15 goals in a competition his side won.
Belgian goalkeeper Courtois won La Liga with Real Madrid, was Man of the Match in the Champions League final, and made several great saves against Liverpool.
De Bruyne, who is among the final three nominees for the third consecutive season, was named Premier League Player of the Season after guiding City to another domestic title, the fourth in his seven seasons with the English club.

The three final nominees, who emerged from an initial list of 15 players drawn up by a UEFA technical study group, were selected by a jury comprising: the clubs that participated in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Europa Conference League 2021/22; and a panel of journalists selected by European Sports Media (ESM).
The jury members chose their top three players, with the first receiving five points, the second three and the third one. Coaches were not allowed to vote for players from their own team.
