Ricardo Oliveira says he feels as fit as ever and is ready to help Brazil overcome reigning Copa America champions Chile in Santiago on Thursday.
The 35-year-old striker is set to make his first appearance for the Selecao in eight years after being drafted into the squad for this week to replace the injured Roberto Firmino.
Current Brazilian league top scorer with 17 goals, the former Milan and Real Betis striker is confident he still has the legs to compete at the highest level after starting 27 of Santos’ 29 league games this season, and says he and fellow veteran Kaka can add valuable experience to Dunga’s squad.
"We are in good shape physically. And, thank God, at Santos I am the second most capped player of the year,” Ricardo Oliveira told reporters in Santiago.
“As soon as you lose faith, life is meaningless. Today I am here serving the squad. The important thing is that I'm back. Now I want to maintain the form that has brought me into the Selecao.”
The veteran is likely to fulfil a role as reserve to centre-forward Hulk, but could offer a key alternative to coach Dunga as Brazil begin World Cup qualification.
