Former Belgium international and current England Burnley FC coach Vincent Kompany said there is "still magic" in the football of his former national team-mate Eden Hazard and wished the Real Madrid striker the best of luck to finish his playing career "as he deserves".
"He can still score in the Champions League final, he can still win a title. There is still magic in this player, in the person. And we have to hope for the best so that he ends up as he deserves," Kompany said in an interview published on Tuesday by Belgian broadcaster 'RTBF'.
The former Manchester City defender between 2008 and 2019 felt it is "too early" to talk about the end of Hazard's football career, despite the 32-year-old attacker barely playing for Madrid.
"The most important thing is that Eden had injuries and that is what changed. You have to respect the fact that you don't control injuries. He has dealt with injuries and the after-effects, and it's always difficult to come back," he said.
