'There are principles that should not be broken' - Morata hits out at Galatasaray

Alvaro Morata has announced his departure from Galatasaray SK with a message of gratitude to the fans and his teammates, alongside harsh criticism of the club's management, whom he rebukes for failing to uphold agreed commitments and disrespecting fundamental values.
"I sincerely want to thank you for the affection, warmth, and support you have shown me. You made me feel welcome from day one, and your support has been among the most extraordinary I have experienced in my career," stated the striker in a statement shared on his social media channels.
However, the Spanish international qualified that his experience with the board was not as positive. "There were times when a given word and respect for fundamental values were not upheld. Until the end, agreed commitments were not met, to the point where I had no choice but to waive part of my salary and other contractual rights I had already earned through my work (the published figure is not exact)," he asserted.
Morata stressed that, for him, "there are principles that should never be broken," and described it as "unacceptable" not to recognise or compensate what has been earned. Furthermore, he considered it fair to give the fans "the true explanation of what happened.".
The player, who highlighted that Istanbul and the Galatasaray SK fanbase will always be in his heart, dedicated words of gratitude to the coach and his technical staff, as well as to all his teammates and the club's personnel, to whom he wished "the best, today and in the future.".
