The worst LaLiga table of the 21st century?

If Real Madrid were to beat Sevilla in the Sanchez-Pizjuan tonight, they would automatically go to the top of the table and therefore become the worst LaLiga leader of the 21st century in the fifth matchday. However, they have competition: Athletic Bilbao could also reach that record if they beat Alaves in San Mames.

Despite the storm that followed the painful defeat at the Parc des Princes, Zinedine Zidane is 90 minutes away from topping the 2019-20 LaLiga standings. Real Madrid could lead if they beat Sevilla on Sunday at Sanchez-Pizjuan.

Atletico Madrid were held to a goalless draw by Celta Vigo at Wanda Metropolitano and FC Barcelona stumbled again at Los Cármenes, drawing a ray of hope in Chamartín, where they are preparing their game against Lopetegui's men.

However, Cristiano Ronaldo's shadow still looms and, at the Sánchez-Pizjuán, it weights even more. Sevilla have won seven of the last ten Real Madrid visits to the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán stadium, and Real Madrid's men are now on the fourth consecutive defeat to the Sevilla giants.

However, if they win, Real Madrid would be at the top of the table with eleven points, the worst top of the table score in the history of LaLiga, equalling Real Madrid's own record in the 2000-2001 season. Likewise, Athletic Club Bilbao could also reach that record if they beat Alavés in San Mamés.
