Valencia have just started their Champions League campaign with a 1-0 win away to Chelsea in London.
This season is the 12th time that Valencia have mixed it with the big boys in Europe's premier competition. In half of them, they have started their campaign off away from home, recording four wins- including on Tuesday- one draw and one defeat.
This first of these three occasions where they won was in 2006-2007, beating Olympiakos 4-2 in Athens. That time they qualified and reached the quarter-finals.
A year later they beat Schalke 04 1-0 in Germany, despite losing it was for the Germans to qualify whereas Valencia came bottom, not even making the Europa League.
Lastly, in 2010-2011, Valencia won 4-0 against Bursaspor in Turkey. They qualified from the group but got knocked out in the last 16.
In the other away ties, they drew 0-0 against Genk in Belgium in 2011-2012 and succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to the hand of Bayern Munich in 2012-2013.
