The two dates Barca have in mind to appoint Xavi as coach

This Friday, Oscar Grau and Eric Abidal met with Xavi Hernandez in Doha. The reason was no other than to try and appoint him as Barca coach either this season or next term. 

Barcelona are clear they will sack Ernesto Valverde. Whether Xavi takes over this season, after losing the Super Cup semi-final to Atletico, or at the end of this campaign, depends on Xavi himself. 

According to 'Marca' and 'AS', Grau and Abidal offered Xavi the possibility of taking over now for the rest of this campaign plus the next two. 

Barca themselves confirmed a meeting between the board members and the Al Sadd coach had taken place. The board want Xavi as soon as possible while Bartomeu still defends Valverde. 

On Monday, there is a Barcelona board meeting which could deal with Valverde's immediate future. A decision on when to get the new coach could be decided then. 

News of the meeting the Barca bigwigs held with Xavi Hernandez reached Al Sadd. They issued a statement which said that Barca will have to go via official channels if they want to sign Xavi.
