For a few years now, Milan have been trying to rise from the ashes while watching Juventus become more unattainable every season.
The history of both could've taken a radical turn a couple of years ago, when Cristiano Ronaldo left Real Madrid and tried to move on to another big club.
As confirmed by the director of sport 'Rossonero' at the time, Massimiliano Mirabelli, his signing was on the table.
That could've be the big blow on the table that the team of San Siro has been wanting to give for several years and that seemed increasingly distant.
"We agreed with Jorge Mendes. We knew there could be problems between Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo," began Mirabelli.
"We did everything to sign him, but the Chinese shareholders blocked the negotiation. For them, the transfer of CR7 was not sustainable," concluded the former Milan member.
